Dominican Republic 2010.

There are no words to describe what God did while I was in the Dominican Republic last summer (June-July 2010).  My prayer was that God would break my heart for what breaks His. Our prayers are more than just words and that became so clear to me the moment I saw my answered prayer come to pass and lives forever changed for His Kingdom. “Words become worlds”-KV. It amazes me that I serve a God who not only allows me but wants me to walk where He walks. During the period of time that I was there, we were blessed to participate in many team projects. We built and painted a two story play house for the girls at the orphanage, bought new furniture for the living room in the orphanage and pews for Pastor Juan’s Church. Pastor Juan and his wife Maria take care of the girls at the Orphanage and the Pan De Vida kids. We also built a swing set and bought pounds of rice and beans to take into the Refugee camp and feed every hungry belly.

I met a little boy named Danny. He and his brother are in the “Pan De Vida” feeding program there. Danny is 10yrs old. He has 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He and two of his siblings live with their mother by the orphanage. Everyday they walk to the feeding program. I fell in love with Danny the moment I saw him. God allowed me to see him not as just one more child, but as a set apart son of God that has a very significant call on his life. I saw him as God sees him. I instantly knew he was my main reason for being there. Now I am one VERY proud Madrina (God Mother) to this beautiful little boy!

My next highlight was meeting Santo. Santo is about 70yrs old and lives with his father who is about 90yrs old. (Give or take)When Santo was 12yrs old he fell out of a tree and hasn’t moved his legs since then and also has very limited use in his arms. I had the privilege to spend time with him. I have never in my life met someone so full of JOY. All Santo talked about was how happy he was and not to worry about him because he has made his heart right with God and is ready for when Jesus comes to takes him Home.

If God only took me to the Dominican Republic just for Danny and Santo, it was worth it all. God has placed it on my heart to return to the DR and serve as a Summer Intern. I know that God is moving in such mighty ways already, but there are still many more lives to be touched. I choose to not sit and wish I could, but to go out and do what I know He has called and enabled me to do. (1 Cor 9:19)

I’m very excited to be returning the end of May 2011, to stay till the end of July. I would like to ask that you keep me in your prayers as I prepare for my time there. I will need all the prayers and financial support I may receive. I have no doubt that if God wants me there He will make a way like He ALWAYS does.

Beautiful illustration of God’s amazing love. We are going to the DR in 2012 and can’t get there soon enough. Thank you for sharing your heart in this post. Very blessed to have found it.

  4. Wow That’s awesome! Thank you! It was such an honor to serve there and be His hands and feet. I can’t wait to go back, soon! The DR is a beautiful place and a great mission field. People there are so hungry for a fresh move of God. I’m sure, for whatever reason you are going there, God will move upon your heart. :)
